Gluten-Free At Walt Disney World: Garden Grill

Monday, April 2, 2018

A more recent change in my life has been cutting out gluten. As difficult as that has been (since I have a genuine love affair with bread), it was more of a daunting task to take on at theme parks. Specifically, Walt Disney World, as I am there so frequently. Or, at least, I thought it was going to be daunting. Little did I know, they have gluten-free options in so many places!

Now, given all of the sensory aversions my kids have with food, it can be kind of hard to find a good restaurant for us to dine at. However, a couple weeks ago, I decided that my family and I should have a splurge kinda morning and go eat somewhere in the parks! We decided on the Garden Grill Restaurant inside Epcot's "The Land" area. I checked their breakfast menu and it looked like it could be a decent option for us.

In case you've never been, the Garden Grill is a lovely buffet-styled, character dining. It is located sort of above the ride "Living With The Land" and you actually can see into that ride at times while you're dining. I say "at times", because the dining floor actually slowly rotates! We weren't aware of this until we looked up from our plates and realized we had moved!

Gluten-Free At Walt Disney World: Garden GrillThe Garden Grill offers fruit, a cinnamon sticky-bun, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. They bring it all out together and you can pick what you want more of. I figured I would just pick through what I could eat, and leave the rest for my family. However, when we arrived, I saw a gluten-free menu and quickly jumped on that opportunity!

Let me just say... BEST. DINING. EXPERIENCE. EVER! I'll be completely honest here, I've had some not-so-great experiences with Disney dining. I'm obviously not going to go into all of that right now, but it's definitely deterred us many times. When you pay what you have to pay for a Disney restaurant, you kind of expect the best. The Garden Grill just didn't disappoint!

As you can see on this menu, I was not missing out. The only real difference was that I didn't have the sticky bun, but had a muffin, instead. If you haven't had Disney's gluten-free items yet, you need to try them. This muffin was delicious. Even my daughter was asking me to order another one so she could have it! It was light and fluffy (a rarity to find in gluten-free breads) and was perfectly sweetened. So. Good.

Not only that, but when you order gluten-free items, everything is super-extra fresh. I don't know about you, but that is seriously a perk to me. And when you tell me I can't have bread anymore, I need some perks (just sayin....).

The waffles were delicious, the bacon was crisp, I even loved their eggs..and I hate everyone's eggs. Always. But theirs were so good! And that mimosa?! I will eat breakfast wherever you tell me to, if there are mimosa's involved. Their mimosa was mostly champagne, I kid you not. SO good.

Gluten-Free At Walt Disney World: Garden GrillThe Garden Grill truly is a family-friendly, enjoyable restaurant. We went there for breakfast, but are definitely planning on having a lunch or dinner there, as well. The characters (Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale) were so cute and would stay for several minutes playing with the kids, because they had the time to do so (given it was so early in the morning).

If you have the option to go there, I absolutely recommend it! And now you know that if you have a gluten/wheat allergy, you're absolutely accommodated! Yay for Walt Disney World helping us gluten-affected people!
